Napoleon liet dit monument bouwen naar aanleiding van zijn overwinningen in de Slag bij Austerlitz in 1805. Het vierspan met de Godin van de Vrede werd gemaakt in 1828 door Fran\u00e7ois Joseph Bosio. De <strong>Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel<\/strong> hoorde vroeger bij het Tuilerie\u00ebnpaleis maar dit werd door een brand verwoest in 1871 tijdens de Commune van Parijs.
